Maintenance
Pervious Concrete is the easiest pavement product to maintain! Pervious concrete is not a new product. It was originally used in Europe back in the late 1940’s. Properly placed and maintained Pervious Concrete will last for decades, and it has. We have worked with it for more than 25 years. We know from experience, not guesses. As we said, we have the Concrete Evidence!
Maintenance is easy if the Pervious Concrete is properly installed. It starts with a properly installed base. The base must be free of debris, roots from nearby trees must be professionally pruned to prevent uplift, and compaction must be uniformly 94% or greater. Placement of the pervious mix must be choreographed to be off-loaded by chute or conveyor, spread, screed vibrated within precision placed steel forms and roller-compacted, all within 15-20 minutes. Any shortcuts here will produce a pavement that will be difficult or impossible to maintain. If it isnโt installed correctly by an experienced contractor like Charger Enterprises, Beware!
Improperly installed Pervious concrete begins to deteriorate within months. Traffic and rain will tear it apart. When properly installed Pervious Concrete gets wet, it gets stronger. Even if it gets full of sand, water still runs through it. Covered with two inches of sand, more rain water will pass through it than through Bahia Grass!
Unlike asphalt, gasoline and other hydrocarbons will not cause potholes. When the low cost of maintenance is figured in, Pervious Concrete is the least expensive paving material available today.
Just like a surgical team in a hospital, each member of our installation teams performs critical functions, at precisely the right time. Without supervision, planning and quick response, you may have a sick pervious project as a result.
